Mumbai’s Iconic Drive to be Installed with LED Street Lights
The 4.3 kilometer-long Marine Drive in south Mumbai is expected to be installed with new LED street lights.
Energy-efficient LED street lights are set to replace conventional street lights in the city within the next eight months. “All the street lights at Marine Drive will be replaced in the next 20 days. A pilot project to replace the street lights with LED will also be carried out at Bandra, Mulund and Colaba thereafter,” AshishShelar, BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) Mumbai unit chief and MLA, said at a press conference on Saturday. “The new LED street lights on the Marine Drive stretch will be inaugurated by Chief Minister DevendraFadnavis on January 31. By implementing this project, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will save up to Rs 164 crore annually,” Shelar said at the press conference held at the BMC office.
