By now you probably know that LED lighting is poised to be the next gold standard in lighting. LED-based lighting systems are clean, safe, and more importantly, energy efficient, far outclassing any other lighting product on the market today. As a way of helping usher in this lighting revolution, the Australian Government has made grants available for those who want to apply for rebates to ease the cost of their purchase of LED lighting purchase. Because of the new technology they feature, LED light bulbs and other solid-state lighting systems are more expensive than conventional lighting systems. The government has recognized this problem and has offered a way for people to enjoy the benefits of LED lighting for their homes, the community and the environment. These grants include:
Re-tooling for Climate Change Part of the Clean Business Australia initiative, the Re-tooling for Climate Change program is one of the initiative's three elements, the others being the Green Building Fund and the Climate Ready Program. The Re-tooling for Climate Change program was created to provide grants to manufacturers in Australia (both small and medium-sized) in order to help them decrease their carbon footprint on the environment. This is done by making improvements to their energy and water usage during the production process.
Energy Efficiency for Small Business (for New South Wales only) Created for businesses that have electricity bills reaching up to $20,000 a year, or small businesses that have fewer than a dozen employees, the Energy Efficiency for Small Business program offers business owners an assessment plan on their energy usage, supplemented by an action plan on how to reduce their usage. In addition, applicants can avail of a 50% rebate reaching up to $5,000. This is for businesses that consume $5,000-$20,000 worth of electricity per year. For small businesses that maintain low energy consumption, the program offers a $2,000 rebate. These are just two of the rebate programs in Australia for those who want to switch to LED lighting. There’s more where that came from, so be sure to check back for future posts.
Grants can range anywhere between $10,000 and $500,000. Contact details: AusIndustry hotline at 13 28 46 Email: [email protected]
