Save on Bills

You’ve probably heard of power and environment friendly lights like LEDs being marketed by light bulb producers and even the local government. These bulbs are gaining a lot of popularity worldwide, but just what is it about them that makes them so special? And why are these bulbs more expensive compared to other lighting solutions? One of the key reasons for this is that LEDs have the ability to affect your utility bill in a big and powerful way.

Energy Friendly Light emitting diodes have changed the course of the lighting technology by offering a light that’s the same, and sometimes even brighter, of an incandescent light but with less power. This is because LED light bulbs don’t work the same way as incandescent do. They don’t need to heat up a filament to create light. Instead, it use a chemical process which requires less power. Simply put, a 15 watt LED produces enough light to replace a 100 watt incandescent.

Long Lifespan The main reason why incandescent bulbs burn out is because the constant heating of the filament inside them damages it. Since LED lights don’t have these filaments, they can help you save on maintenance as well. They last 10 times longer than incandescent and they’re commonly made out of a plastic material, making them more durable and less prone to breaking.

Safer Although there are other energy friendly bulbs in the market, LED lights are by far the safest to use. CFLs or compact florescent lamps are also common in the market, but they contain a small amount of toxic chemicals, mercury to be specific, which makes them a hazard in case they ever do break open.

Best Investment Although these bulbs are a bit more expensive compared to other bulbs in the market, they make a great investment. Prices for LEDs have considerably dropped since more and more producers are competing in the market and many analyst say that the prices will continue to drop over the next few years.
