Safe and Power Friendly Lights for the Holidays and Onwards
LEDs are now lighting up the streets of Wilmington North Carolina with lively colors, and this is not just for the holidays.
WILMINGTON—They light up our homes and Christmas trees, and now the streets of Wilmington. Duke Energy Progress is working with the City of Wilmington to install 18,000 LED lights in the area—nearly 750,000 of them fill the Enchanted Airlie gardens. "Which equals about 20 miles of light strands at least,” said Janine Powell. There is also a boatload of LED lights in the annual Flotilla at Wrightsville Beach. "It's exciting because they are all so pretty colored,” said Flotilla attendee Kyle Smith. Soon, Wilmington residents will see LED lights year-round along the streets. "We partnered with Duke Energy Progress, and as we can, and as money becomes available, to incorporate these LED lights,” said Dylan Lee with the City of Wilmington.
