LEDs Replace Common Light Bulbs in Indian District
6The Guntur district is expected to glow brighter with more power savings as LEDs are replacing conventional bulbs.
Guntur chosen for energy saving project by EECL. The issues, however, could crop up during the distribution of LED bulbs. Consumers might come up with multiple bills, leakages, local pressure etc. Guntur district will see energy revolution as the Centre has chosen the district for implementing an energy saving project in association with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). During the first phase of the district, over 20 lakh LED bulbs would be given away to consumers at a price of Rs.10 each. While each LED bulb costs Rs. 240, the APSPDCL would pay the cost to EECL in five years during the time, it continues to save huge amounts on power bills.
