LED Light Bulb Penetration in Taiwan Reaches All Time High of 50%
According to Philips Taiwan general manager Edward Po, LED light bulbs now account for 50 percent of all light bulbs in the country in 2014.
In the Taiwan market, LED light bulbs accounted for 50% of all types of light bulbs in 2014 and the penetration rate is likely to rise to 60% in 2015, according to Philips Taiwan general manager Edward Po. There is demand for 20-25 million light bulbs of all types in Taiwan a year, Po said.
For LED light bulbs in particular, the Taiwan government implemented compulsory compliance with national standards in July 2014, Po indicated. Sales prices for new LED light bulbs in compliance with such standards have appeared to be relatively steady and therefore price drops in the near future are expected to be within a single-digit range, Po said.
