Home Made Chandelier

Chandeliers are the epitome of style and class when it comes to lighting. A hundred years ago, only the rich could afford to have a chandelier installed in their homes. Now, people are learning to be more creative, choosing to make their own fixtures from scratch. The basic parts are just simple. You just need a base and some light bulbs and wires to construct a chandelier. Others would even skip the light bulbs and just decorate a base. Here are a few tips to help you make your own chandelier.

Go Natural Skip the expensive crystals and go for natural materials or things that remind you of nature. Think wood, leaves, rocks, sand, the beach, shells, and anything else that brings you to the great outdoors. Use little bits and pieces of rocks and driftwood that you picked up along the trail or your adventures outside. Install a few LED bulbs on the base since these don’t heat up and won’t become a fire hazard. Create a natural design with the things you’ve collected on the base or even use a piece of wood as a base.

Metal Chic Modern designs have gotten into a lot of metal. Everything from metal balls to sheets are being used to make one of a kind chandeliers. If you’re into metal craft, then you’ll love to use metal and form it into a decorative light fixture. Of course you can just material that are metal colored if you’re not comfortable with hanging real metal on the ceiling. These can be a bit heavy.

Clear as Glass Using glass on a chandelier not only looks beautiful and elegant, but it’s a perfect light source. Light can easily go through the material so it can illuminate any space without any problems. You can get inexpensive glass holders and figures and pair them with a few LED light bulbs and you have a wonderful chandelier ready to be made.
