Playing with Light

Decorating a home can be a big hassle, especially when it comes to getting all the details right. What color should the room be? What furniture to get? Will your acquisitions fit the budget? What to do with the lighting? There are a million questions that need answers. When it comes to decorative lighting, you’ll need to know how to play around with lights to help make the room look amazing. The right lighting not only makes the room look better, it can even make look bigger than what it actually is. Here are a few tips to help you play around with the lighting.

Main lights Every room needs a main light source. You can’t just depend on lamps and shades. Place the main lights on the ceiling and make sure that they’re evenly spaced. This makes sure that the room’s lit equally and you don’t get dark spots. You can find a number of decorative covers made from different materials to hide the bulb. Also, stick with bulbs that give a strong light, like LED bulbs, so the room is well lit.

Extra lighting These lights are floor lamps or table lamps that can give you more light in the room. You can also use these to change the room’s mood. For example, you can turn the main lights off and leave the extra lights on for a “dark” and intimate mood. Make sure the tone of the bulbs you use matches the tone of the main lights to avoid any harsh lighting

Accent lighting Placing a few accent lights here and there will make the room more interesting. Accent lights can vary from back lightings for walls and painting or even LED Christmas lights or tubes that you can use to highlight something like a shelf or bar. They add a bit more creativity in any design. For inquiries and questions, contact the LiquidLEDs customer support hotline.
