Now that it’s time to roll out your Christmas lights, or get a new set, choose LEDs to make the most of your holiday lights. 

As the annual observance of Consumer Month draws to a close, I hope people will not forget information on wise energy consumption, as stressed in this year’s theme, “SapatnaImpormasyon: Susi saWastongPaggamitngEnerhiya” (sufficient information is key to wise energy use).” Warnings of possible energy shortages in the hot months next year have been issued. But the coming holiday season may further strain power resources as people consume more energy. But you can be wise; if you are buying new Christmas lights, get LED types. Make sure they have Import Commodity Certification stickers, which the Department of Trade and Industry gives only to products that pass the Bureau of Product Standards and have met Philippine and international or foreign standards.
