Businesses in Ontario Urged to Switch to LEDs


Local businesses in Ontario are being urged to switch over to LEDs. The challenge is to make business owners understand that LEDs offer both energy efficiency and significant maintenance benefits. 

The glow emanating from a soup and sandwich menu board at a Tim Hortons in Ottawa South is lit with LED bulbs and the province is hoping more businesses get on board with similar energy-saving initiatives. The Timmie’s at 2951 Bank St. is one of 245 of the chain’s restaurants across the province that underwent energy-savings renovations through thesaveONenergy Retrofit Program. The $2.2 billion program, through the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) and Hydro Ottawa, offers financial incentives to companies who upgrade their lighting, motors, heating and cooling systems to be more energy-efficient.
